Manager, Occupational Safety Program Section

Will: Be the Manager for the Occupational Safety Program Office, 5320. Will report to the Manager of the Environmental, Health and Safety Program Office and support the Office of Safety and Mission Success Directorate. Will ensure the successful management and oversight of Occupational Safety programs, personnel, and activities, including the development of program plans, processes and policies, and the monitoring of program performance. Will plan, direct and control resources, schedules, make risk assessment decisions, and program performance commitments in fulfilling Occupational Safety regulatory compliance, program, and prime contract requirements. Will perform all other duties or ad-hoc assignments that may be assigned. Domestic travel is expected.

Required Skills: MS/MA in Environmental, Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience with 13+ years experience or BS/BA in similar discipline Environmental Health and Safety with 15+ years experience or equivalent related technical experience. Expert knowledge in: Regulatory Compliance and General Industry Safety Orders. Extensive demonstrated knowledge and experience in EH&S management, business knowledge, planning and organization. Extensive and demonstrated leadership and management skills with a history of success in planning, development, execution, and implementation of EH&S programs. Demonstrated ability to develop and mentor high performance teams, and maintain effective working relations with other organizations and customers. Strong leadership ability and proficiency in decision making and delegation, and strategic planning. Ability to apply innovation, initiative, and sound judgment in daily operations to meet commitments. Excellent problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. Extensive experience with budgeting, scheduling, contracts management, staffing, and process development. Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and written skills. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, sponsors, customers, and principal investigators.

Desired Skills: MS/MA +15 in Environmental, Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience or BS/BA +17 in similar discipline Environmental Health and Safety or equivalent related technical experience. Experience in working and managing EH&S programs and personnel. Expert knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulatory compliance requirements, ANSI Standards, construction site compliance, and assessments. Thorough knowledge of and experience in the JPL matrix organization and its policies and procedures. Proven managerial and leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and individuals. Successful, extensive experience in both line and safety programmatic management, knowledge of and experience in JPL practice, policies and procedures, and JPL/NASA interfaces.
