This training uses a "high-touch" as well as high-tech approach to learning. Each course requires students to study the course material and complete essays, multiple-choice questions, and a final exam. Students also have the opportunity to submit comments and questions to the instructor. This opportunity for students to interact with a real qualified instructor helps meet OSHA quidelines for online training. The mix of learning ensures students are able to recall facts and articulate concepts and principles in their own words, and it helps them prepare for the Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) certification exam. National Safety Management Society (NSMS), in collaboration with the Petroleum Education Council (PEC), has developed a new competency recognition and validation program that will give technicians and supervisors a means to formally demonstrate they possess the critical skills, knowledge and abilities to effectively oversee worker/operational safety and health in the field.
